Folks, I haven’t been this excited about physical fitness in quite a while. Not since I kicked butt during the flexed-arm hang in phys ed.  Yes–I made it to the Cross Lab in Winnipeg and I’m happy to report that it was a completely terrifying, but ultimately satisfying adventure.

Terrifying because there were riders in attendance who clearly had a lot of cyclocross experience (and spiffy tights, cool clip-less pedals, and pricey bikes). Intimidating. But this was a lab for every skill level and newbies were, in fact, welcome–just as advertised. Newbies were coached by Ian, a rider with the Olympia Cycling Club, and he kindly took this picture

I learned some important things–hear all about it at our Sunday night ride.

SUNDAY, OCT. 2nd at 7 p.m.

Meet at the green bungalow on 14th Ave. NW for a ride around town and some cyclocross tips.

BREAKING NEWS:  Don’t beat yourself up about missing the Cyclocross technical riding lab in Winnipeg. Thanks to the awesome organizers of the upcoming Southern Cross race, cross labs are coming to Altona!  I understand that the local labs will be co-ed and child-friendly, so your whole clan is welcome to come out and ride!  Join the fun – Wednesdays at the park – 6:30 – 7:30 – bring the family/spread the word.
