Cross Lab Report

by on October 13, 2011

It was a damp but mild evening. About a dozen men and women met in the park to learn the secrets of cyclocross. In case you haven’t been paying attention, Southern Cross is happening this weekend, and lots of local cyclists are getting ready to ride.

You could tell the local cross lab organizers were a little bit nervous. There was a light drizzle, the grassy park was now slick and muddy–would anyone come out and train?  Fear not, gentle readers–there are hardy souls among us.

and Cindy arrived with her game face on

As the light was fading, Southern Cross Race Director Johnny S. shared his knowledge of dismounts, bike handling and overcoming obstacles.  It was a lovely evening.

Ladies: Southern Cross dominates this Sunday’s schedule. If you are not racing, please come out and cheer for your friends and neighbours–most of us race at 2 p.m., but check the schedule–there’s even a great opportunity for kids to ride on Sunday.

Athena Bike Club will not take to the streets this Sunday, but we expect to be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 23rd–check the blog for details.
