SAR Report: cold feet

by on November 21, 2011

No one showed up at HQ wearing espadrilles. We all put on gear we thought would do the trick–here’s what we looked like on departure:

Snow on the ground made us a bit nervous–so we started out slowly. Pretty much had the streets to ourselves–the sunshine was lovely and there was a fair bit of bare pavement.

It was about -10 and I thought the winds were blowing lightly, but it was challenging to ride south on Industrial Drive, directly into the prevailing winds. Julia and I encouraged each other with warm, cheery thoughts about the clubhouse. To our suprise, the ride leaders did not turn towards Grumpy’s when we thought they should. Our cold feet drove us to make an executive decision–we turned away from the goddess group and rode straight to the bar.

Cold feet also claimed Joanne and she joined us at the clubhouse shortly before the rest of the riders came in from the cold.  Topics discussed: winter gear, wool jerseys, show & tell, Movember/Vajanuary, home movies and YouTube.

FYI: We still need a permanent name and a logo to match would be nice too. If you haven’t read the CycleChick’s blog lately–do yourself a favour and check out her latest post (scroll to the bottom of this page for the link or if you’re lazy, just click here).

Programming Note:  The 99th Grey Cup will not be televised till 5:30 p.m. our time, so our next Sunday Afternoon Ride can take place at the usual time. Don’t just take my word for it–here’s the scoop from TSN

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (10-8) at B.C. Lions (11-7)

Sunday, November 27 – 6:30pm et/3:30pm pt on TSN and TSN.ca
