Run/Walk to Remember: 2013

by on May 25, 2013

Safety goddesses! Our bike club was well represented at the 2nd Annual 5 or 10 km foot race put on by the folks behind the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund.  I joined Cindy, Cheryl, Rachael & Joanne in patrolling the course on our bikes, looking out for runners or walkers in distress as we worked as race marshals for the event.  We were quite impressed with the organizers and the number of volunteers supporting the cause. Thanks to Joanne for getting us involved (and to Gavin for taking care of the kids!).

We met a few cyclists who traded in their bikes in order to participate as runners or walkers:

Despite the iffy weather, it turned out to be a great morning of running, walking & riding.

This bicycle enthusiast was not wearing ABES colours–he was just trying to blend in with the rest of the volunteers.  He was stationed at that pivotal point between Bunge and the Finish line, so when we weren’t putting ourselves between the racers and the truck traffic, we got to spend some quality time with Derrick.

This was also a big weekend for Fort Garry Bike Club, so we were also happy to hang-out with these FGBC spring ride widows.
