Tuesday Night Report

by on June 13, 2013

Although our fearless leader was absent, seven of us gathered at HQ for a ride.

Once again the weather was beautiful.

The theme of “secret parks” had been selected so we set out to discover a few hidden gems. Cindy lead us to secret park #1 which consists of a large grassy area, a small swing set, and a lot of mosquitoes.  It is set back behind some yards and is really kind of hidden.  It’s hard to believe that there is a spot in Altona that I have never been to before!  We headed back to our regular loop and then cut in near the hospital to find secret park #2.  We were underwhelmed by the patch of weedy junipers that is supposedly also a park. (Someone donated a piece of their lot to the town?!)

The mosquitoes again prompted us to keep moving so we continued on the theme of “roads less travelled” and headed through a few alleys and over the MCC bump.  Cheryl impressed some boys with her moves on the skate park and then we headed down the gravel path to 14th.  After another lap on our usual route we retired to the clubhouse.

The highlight of our conversation was a Monk spotting on highway 201.  Sandra had photo evidence and Bethany’s quick texting confirmed that there really is an orange robed, Hare Krishna monk walking across Canada.  The guy has an interesting story.
