The End

by on November 2, 2013

Sunday, November 3rd–the CX Provincial Championships at the Forks marks the end of cyclocross season. Don’t forget–Sunday is also the end of Daylight Saving Time (fall back!), and the end of free coffee at McDonald’s. Still, there’s a lot to look forward to as we eagerly anticipate the winter cycling season! I can sense your enthusiasm from here.

Just last week at the WWR, Lisa let it slip that she’s thinking about riding Actif Epica in February.

IMG_0368 Here’s Lisa at last year’s winter bike festival in Altona…she’s got some of the gear for the 130km endurance race that is Actif Epica, but it’s going to take a lot more preparation to get her ready for February. I’m doing all I can to help–I’m going to train really hard so I’ll be ready for Actif Epica too…in 2015. If you’ve got extra gear, advice, or better yet–experience with getting from St. Malo to St. Boniface on a bicycle, in February–get in touch. We don’t want this adventure to be the end of Lisa.

It’s not winter yet, but the WWR is getting chilly. The five riders who gathered at HQ last week spent a fair bit of time hanging out in the garage, staying warm before heading out.

IMG_0841At the clubhouse, we talked about this year’s Moose Lake ride–and those who endured the high temperatures during that endurance event were still on the look-out for a cycling jersey that could beat the heat. Something like this little number from Louis Garneau–apparently provides SPF 50 protection. What???

Silhouette Tank_LGI saw it up close at Country Cycle  when I stopped in to check out Winkler’s local bike shop.

I was in the company of my live-in mechanic–an excellent wrench, but definitely not the owner of a fine retail establishment–like this guy.

IMG_0847 You may have heard via the ABES blog that Peter and Co. are hosting a 40km race on Saturday, Nov. 9th–starting at Colert Beach.
