Cheryl's newest bikeCindy rides Lefty  Earth Day 2014

Last week’s ride was dominated by the discussion of Cheryl’s newest bike–the Cannondale Lefty 29er. Most of us just stood by ogling the bike, but Cindy arrived at HQ, saw the sweet ride and made it her own. Only then did others request some ride time, and Cheryl was gracious enough to lower the seat for some test rides.

Next we were off to find an iconic Altona location so we could snap a club photo for Earth Day.  Then we rode around town enjoying the spring temps and causing some mild confusion. Eight riders is a lot for local drivers to get their heads around–or so it seemed.

On arriving at the Clubhouse, Bethany was kind enough to share her wealth of free French fry coupons–woohoo!  She assembled a crack squad of carb couriers and they raced off to wait for the fries and bring them back to share with the rest of us. Nice.

This week’s WWR is your chance to say goodbye to the cruel month of April. Meet at HQ at 8 p.m.

This just in: Saturday, May 24th is your next chance to ride your bike in support of a good cause–the Curtis Klassen Memorial Fund

These folks put on the annual Run/Walk to Remember, and they have been in touch with Bikejo to see if Altona’s cyclists would be willing to serve as bicycle race marshalls for their event.

Yes–you’d have to be in the Altona Park by 8 a.m. on a Saturday, but they serve good coffee and your work is done by about 11 a.m. and then there’s a BBQ.
They’re looking for a minimum of 6 cyclists, but we would like to ride in pairs along the entire 10km route, so the more riders the better. Leave a comment, or get in touch with Joanne if you’re interested–she says riding as a bike marshall “means you don’t have to feel guilty about not running.”  Pass the French fries.
